QUIZ NIGHT PHOTOS!
Congratulations to Denise and her team "The Berries" who won last week, 2nd champion of 2008 (check out the photo!). And of course a massive thank you to everyone who braved the cold and wind to come to the quiz, we raised over $800, and that will go straight to the animals at the shelter!
The K9 advantix arrived, so thank you, that means more comfort for our shelter animals in the shape of tick prevention (this will kick off across the shelter and hospital before the end of march and be a permament treatment for all the dogs!), and we are also very excited about the arrival of the new beds for the dog on the 10th March! We will post photos of everything we get up to!
Also well done to the team who cleared the rest of the Humane Society rubbish heap last Sunday. Plans for the development of a fully equipped processing center are moving on, and we will keep you updated, its a big project but it would give us the chance to be able to treat surrender animals quicker, take more animals in, as well as create an educational centre and a room for our very small puppies and kittens.

What we are doing now
Dear all
How are you? We have been busy with the BHS as you all know , and continue to work through the wish list to enhance the place for the many animals, including of course the current 70,000 dogs roaming our island. As we are friends of the BHS, we are raising money specifically for the animal wish list which includes amongst many things for our shelter animals...
Ongoing tick prevention for the shelter animals to control parasite born diseases *THE FIRST ORDER WAS MADE YESTERDAY AND ON ITS WAY!! WELL DONE QUIZ NIGHT PEOPLE!!!
Provide more medication and products to control all diseases especially for the puppies whose immune systems are not strong.
Buying beds for the puppies area
Rebuilding the derelict buildings to reuse as shelter space
To build a processing area for surrender animals so they can be processed efficiently
To provide an anonymous drop off kennel to stop people abandoning pets on beaches etc.
To rebuild a euthanasia centre so pets and their owners can have a peaceful moment.
And of course to put in place the "Who let the dogs out" programme which means we can bring more dogs off the streets and spay and neuter them as they would otherwise would not ever have the opportunity. We can create a happy healthy Bahamian dog population!!!
This is a big list, and we have our quiz night as just a small part of what we are trying to achieve, Lissa and I spend every day trying to work through this list and we refuse to give up, so if you know people in the construction business, have some ideas or just have a few dollars, make good use of it and put it right back into the animals at the shelter !
